12 Days of Christmas Style – Get party fit with a sniffle remedy
December 3, 2008 by greenmystyle
Wouldn’t it just be the jolly ticket if you came down with one of those party-cancelling colds? That would be so unstylish! Make sure you ease sniffles fast with DeviDoll founder Sindhu Venkatanarayanan’s special remedy.
Day 3: Beat the cold with ginger tea
Sindhu writes: The best remedy to get warm in the winter chill is a cup of fresh ginger chai.
Take a piece of fresh ginger about the size of your thumb, peel and grate.
Add this to 2 cups of water and let boil until really going strongly. Let it be until water turns sort of yellowy. Add 1/4 cup milk and sugar to taste. Reduce heat (or else milk concoction will at this point boil out of saucepan onto your stove/hob). When the milk concoction rises to first boil put in 2 PG tips bags. Let tea mix in with milk concoction and you’ll see colour of tea developing. Turn off hob when the colour is to your liking but don’t let it be too light. Misses the point. If you want to add a bit of ‘chai’ taste to this add 1 pod crushed fresh cardamom (small green, not big black) when you add grated ginger.
Strain and drink and feel better. For extra fun, serve in a vintage tea cup.
Come back tomorrow for Sindhu’s Christmas tree decoration tip.
