12 Days of Christmas Style: Your daily eco tip
December 1, 2008 by greenmystyle
Get ready for twelve daily doses of Christmas eco style advice from Sindhu Venkatanarayanan, founder of hot online eco fashion boutique DeviDoll. From how to keep warm in the freezing cold, how to party in style, what to buy your man, how to ‘green’ your Christmas decorations and more. Day 1; Christmas trees…
Day 1: Tree or no tree?
Sindhu writes: Should I get a Christmas tree? Well, personally, I think a tree really completes Christmas and as such is hard to do away with altogether. The lesson is to do it conscientiously, with mindfulness. I am looking at Christmas-tree.org.uk to find the right tree for me. If you have the space, get a replantable tree. But most importantly, recycle your tree – we can all do it!
If you really are uncomfortable with getting a real tree, experiment with creating tree-like structures from found objects, such as fallen branches from your garden (be inspired by the one above) or look afresh at the items around you. I love this Christmas Tree pictured here, made of old reference books that weren’t much used anymore, snapped at a US university library and posted on Flickr.
Come back tomorrow for Sindhu’s next tip. Your man will thank you!
