Daily eBay – Alessi

October 13, 2008 by greenmystyle · Leave a Comment

Today’s Daily eBay is cute, quirky and collectable. It’s also a fantastic credit crunch Christmas present, and you’ll be re-using and recycling too. It’s the Alessi Blue Bird Kettle, designed by Michael Graves.

Alessi is a bit Marmitey; you love it or you hate it. It’s definitely true that one kitchen can have too much Alessi. Alessi cutlery, fruit bowls, coffee cups, dog, cat, kitchen sink, husband. It can be too much for sure, but the odd well-chosen piece is a good idea.

The Blue BIrd Kettle is an Alessi favourite and somewhat of a design classic. A whistling hob kettle, it is crafted in gleaming stainless steel with a thermoplastic resin handle and base, an anti-scale filter and, of course, the defining whistling bird spout. It has a magnetic stainless steel heat-diffusing bottom.

It’s used but in good condition. New, it sells for around £100. This one has a current bid price of £9.99, and bidding ends October 19 at 16.20pm.

This picture is hard to look at isn’t it? It’s a scene from the latest work by guerilla artist Banksy, revealed in New York last night, and it’s a stark reminder of the cruelty of animal testing and the use of fur in the fashion industry. Read more

Daily eBay – navy wool cape

October 9, 2008 by greenmystyle · 1 Comment

Have Cape Will Fly. Don’t Have Cape Don’t Fear. Today’s Daily eBay is this navy wool belted cape with military detailing. It’s a trends fusion for sure.

It might be heading for 20 degrees this Saturday (quick, head to the beach you hardy Brits!), but here at greenmystyle.com our attention is still turning to warmer winter items. This cape looks like good transition wear – chilly Autumn rather than bleak mid-Winter.

A good cape needs a belt, we think, to give a little shape. Can’t you just imagine Gok Wan estolling the virtues of the nipped-in waist?

Worn once, this cape is by Frangi, is a wool mix (a whole 1% angora) and fully lined. It’s a size 8.

It’s listed with a starting bid of 99 pence, and bidding ends October 11 at 10.21am.

Daily eBay – American Apparel dress

October 8, 2008 by greenmystyle · Leave a Comment

We admit it, you have to be whippet thin and rather young to properly get away with today’s Daily eBay discovery; this American Apparel bodycon dress.

Pop starlet Leona Lewis has been snapped leaving airports in the purple and white American Apparel bodycon dress; a dress that looks like a skirt and top being the epitome of chic right now.

This black and white version is a size XS; the seller is between a 6 and an 8, and it fitted her ‘perfectly’. I know, I know, it’s tiny. But someone out there will be perfect for it, and right now it’s a measly 99pence.

Bidding ends October 17 at  10.10pm.
