December 11, 2009 by Maria Kaski

loraxA new wave of children’s books tackling recycling and climate change has arrived on the literary scene. Packed full of images and easy to digest facts, these books are set to give kids an insight into thinking about their effect on the planet. Maria Kaski picks her favourite eco kid’s books.

The Lorax by Dr. Seuss

First published in 1971, the original eco-warrior’s message is just as relevant. Presented in a beautiful hardback edition made from 100% recycled materials, The Lorax combines fabulous illustrations with humour and catchy rhymes. Narrated through the eyes of the Once-ler, a greedy character who is getting rich selling endangered stock, we hear of long-suffering Lorax’s struggle to save the Truffula Trees.
