Catwalk report: Doii Paris Autumn/ Winter 2010
February 22, 2010 by Jennifer Butler
Doii Paris exhibited its highly anticipated show today at London Fashion Week for the first time at Vauxhall Fashion Scout. Jenny Butler writes.
The atmosphere was set with dream-like fairytale music and back combed golden curled locks on the models. “Twinkle, twinkle little star” echoed around the Freemasons Hall, home to this year’s Vauxhall Fashion Scout. The show made you feel like you were walking on a cloud as a number of beautiful flowing dresses floated down the catwalk.
The collection featured rose and floral prints and cartoonish Japanese artwork. Soft feminine dresses and coats were staple items in the show with lace, fur and frill trims.
The silk dresses were adorned with birds in flight, symmetrical circular patterns and exotic plants and buds.
The collection is inspired by Doii’s favourite Russian fairytale ‘Babushka’. The fur layered winter shrug and white fur trim coat in icy blues and hot red would not have looked out of place next to the Winter Palace in Saint Petersburg.
All the items were sewn with great attention to detail and finish, using sequins on custom printed fabrics. There was a selection of coats that had complicated and stunning embroidery with bright playful linings and delicate silk and lace. They were novel designs for any woman who wishes to be glistening and daring.
There was a mixture of extreme splendid textile, which were unique yet adorable but there were many pieces that were wearable and classic. Simple silhouettes were created such as a sweet lace babydoll dress and a fitted grey dress with printed detail.
The showstopper was the gothic lace dress with tasselled head piece. It was elegant and was a well needed contrast to the brightly coloured embellishments seen previously on the catwalk.
If you haven’t heard of them before, Doii Paris is a London based luxury women’s wear brand founded in 2005 by Korean designer Doii Lee. The clothes are produced in Korea’s finest couture studios and are carefully created by hand, ensuring that only a very limited number exist.

A beautifully written piece of fashion journalism.
I was completely lost in the contents and felt I was actually at the show, with the vivid descriptions of the collection, the work involved, the music and the atmosphere.
Doii Paris Autum/ Winter 2010 collection sounds truly delightful.
