Come swap with Greenmystyle for Fairtrade Fortnight
February 22, 2010 by Eleni Sardi
Fairtrade Fortnight kicks off this week and we’re absolutely delighted here at Greenmystyle as we can’t wait to share our favourite products with the Fairtrade Foundation’s seal of approval. Eleni Sardi writes.
This year the Fairtrade Foundation is leading a big campaign called ‘The Big Swap’ urging all of us to swap our usual stuff for Fairtrade alternatives. You can do it with bananas, cotton, coffee, chocolate and almost all everyday products you can imagine.
Opting for Fairtrade goods when the moment comes to open your wallet will inevitably make a stand promoting products that have been harvested, manufactured or sourced under fair conditions. A step towards a fairer world, by swapping your goods for Fairtrade ones you’re helping developing world producers through what you buy. As the Foundation points out, two billion people survive on less than 2 dollars a day with unfair trade rules keeping them in poverty. Fairtrade believes that developing world producers should be in control of their own lives, by getting a better deal for the work that they do.
You can register your swap on the Fairtrade Foundation’s website and find out more about stuff that you can swap to help towards the campaign’s goal for one million and one swaps.
During the next two weeks we’ll be give you some ideas on stuff you can swap so come back every day to find out about our picks and you’ll be surprised at the great range of Fairtrade products that are out there.
