Daily eBay – Art Deco tea set
April 2, 2009 by Maria Kaski
The functional austerity of early 20th Century Britain has a captivating simplicity that makes the furniture and utensils of the time seem almost modern when compared to the designs prevalent in the rest of Europe at the time.
There is no sign of the frilly ostentation so often associated with early 20th Century designs. Instead you get an almost visual representation of the hardships and stoic determination of the general public.
Today’s Daily eBay is one such example. This Art Deco Masters patent tea set is made of copper and is not only beautiful but sturdy too, handy if you’re in a post-redundant need-a-cup-of-tea state.
I can imagine holding an intimate, low-key and understated tea party with this striking set, offering up some cheese and pickle sarnies and letting the history of the pieces carry the conversation.
Bidding on the set starts at £11.99 and the auction ends on 2 April.
