Daily eBay – Herbert Krenchel of Denmark

December 17, 2008 by greenmystyle

Today’s eBay is discovered by designer Vic Tristram. It’s this simply stylish enamel bowl, which the seller thinks is by Danish designer Herbert Krenchel. Two things to say about this one.

Firstly, there’s obviously a bit of a vibe for enamel at the moment, as both Vic and 20th Century design guru Tom Burgess have picked enamelware for Daily eBay recently. You heard it here first, folks.

Secondly, I’ve never heard of “Herbert Krenchel of Denmark”, as the seller describes the potential designer. Now, I could go Google him, for sure, and pass on properly useful info to you readers. But, I’ve decided that Herbert Krenchel of Denmark is a little old fella that delivers the post for a living and tinkers around in a shed in his back garden with enamel, paint and bowl-shaped stuff at the weekend. That’s less useful, granted, and Herbert Krenchel of Denmark items are no doubt hugely collectable, but it’s made me happy!

Current bid price on Herbert Krenchel of Denmark’s enamel bowl is £4.99 and bidding ends December 21 at 9.27pm.

The item is listed as Krenit Krenchel, Denmark on whom there is loads of info on Google etc.. If you don’t get the name right you’ll never know who it is.

Well, thanks Maurice. But the designer is Herbert Krenchel, and he designed the Krenit bowl. I like your enthusiasm though!

This bowl was designed for Cathrinholm of Norway not designed by Herber Krenchel who is an engineer who is still alive as far as I am aware. I have bowls by both designers and I have the same bowl as this one with the cathrinholm label on it.

Herbert Krenchel designed the Krenit bowl, always a matt black outside and a coloured enamel inside. Very distinctive forms nothing like the one above.
