Daily eBay – Marc Jacobs peach silk summer dress

Today’s Daily eBay is a peach silk summer dress by Marc Jacobs, not that you’d believe it by looking at this photograph. Close your eyes and imagine it looking stunning on you, in it’s full beautiful colour and shape, rather than washed out and limp as it looks on here.

Silk is a desirable fabric this summer, cropping up on Spring Summer 09 catwalks for Christopher Kane, Martin Margiela, Roland Mouret, YSL, Versace and, yes, Marc Jacobs. It was perhaps prescient of them, creating a seasonal collection set to hit the stores as the recession hits our pockets, to work with a luxurious fabric that makes the wearer feel special whatever the weather.

Of course, the ethical way to wear silk is to buy secondhand silk items or choose peace silk, which allows the silkworm to emerge from its cocoon before the silk is spun, as opposed to commercial silk where the silkworms are killed in the process.

This Marc Jacobs dress ( do check with the seller to guarantee the authenticity of the item), is apparently peach / yellow / pale orange patterned, though that’s not obvious from the picture. It’s a size 12, and knee-length, and could look just stunning.
