Daily eBay – ready for refurb Parker Knoll sofa and chairs
February 3, 2009 by greenmystyle
Friends of mine who are members of the 20th Century Design Society, designed their website and house-sit the most stunning modernist homes used to own a sofa and chairs set very like this.
They loved the simple, almost utilitarian, styling. I forget how theirs was upholstered, no doubt a subtle architect’s grey. They were extremely stylish folk, the types who you wish would invite you to house-sit their home for them, for life.
This set, a teak-framed sofa and two armchairs, is by Parker Knoll. I haven’t noticed Parker Knoll furniture emerge as especially popular right now but Ercol furniture, similar in style, is definitely enjoying a surge in popularity again, and prices are rising to boot. My chap’s parents have tonnes of Ercol stuff stashed away in the third floor of their rather sizeable home, and I’m dying to bring it home to mine. When’s too soon in a relationship to nab his parents’ furniture?
This Parker Knoll set has a very reasonable current bid price of £10.50. Now, really, I know it looks a little like it’s straight from a rest home right now, but imagine it re-upholstered in your favourite fabric. It really could look great. There’s a dinky storage thing going on behind the sofa too, and the sofa’s big enough to make a sofabed (see the pictures).
Bidding ends February 4 at 12.41pm.
Now, it’s my birthday! I’m off to play in the snow. Toodle pip.
