Daily eBay – Skip Sisters pick Victorian French jet

February 10, 2009 by Sarah Woodhead

Hurrah! Today’s Daily eBay is picked by Skip Sister Angie van Manen. The Skip Sisters are a brilliantly talented collective of artists and designers who create beautiful items for your home and wardrobe from chucked away bits and pieces – quite often literally found in skips. We met up with them recently so look our for our full interview. But back to Daily eBay.

Angie has found these four pieces of vintage Victoriana mourning jewellery. The long string of beads and the elasticated bracelet are French jet while the brooches are plastic (the seller thinks possibly Bakelite) and glass.

Angie writes: “This is an interesting collection of vintage mourning jewellery.  The chunky jet bracelet and long necklace of smaller jet beads would look equally good for day or evening.  The two black brooches could be worn as fasteners for vintage summer scarves, or to adorn the longer length jackets that appeared on the Spring/Summer catwalks.”

It’s a short bidding window again, with bids ending at 4.16pm this afternoon. Current bid price is approx £17.50.
