Daily Style Steal – Puzzling hand made earrings by LucyQ for £64
March 19, 2009 by Clare Saxon
Looks like we are going to have to face that pumping music; the 80s are back and are here to stay this season. Add impact with statement earrings that will dangle down to your shoulder pads, in a snappy jigsaw shape that has just a flash of 80s pop for the shellsuit-era shy.
It is hard to find silver jewellery that is made in Britain, and hand made at that. But Lucy Q has been here all along. Lucy Quartermaine is based in the Northwest of England and creates slick but simple silver jewellery with a contemporary twist on traditional craftsmanship.
Lucy started designing during her A levels at school at 18 years old and shortly afterwards she was awarded for her top designs at Sheffield Hallam University. Her collections dance around several key themes such as Splat, Flower, Stone and the very cutesy Button. But our favourite is Jigsaw.
Seeing as the 80s are bigger than everyone’s hair in Pretty in Pink right now, it is only fitting that the show-off shape you should be swinging from your lobes is something as laser cool as (back in the day) jigsaw puzzles.
Jigsaw earrings are £64 and will give a light-hearted touch to your overly structured 80s outfit.
There is a clunky matching cuff which isn’t at quite such good value as the earrings at £140, but chunky bangles are still making waves on the front rows and this one has the quirky style and hand made British background you need.
While you are on the site, take a look at the Crisp collection, with curious neckalces and rings inspired by Hula Hoops and Skips. Crunchy savoury snacks must be the new hurl-worthy hearts in the pendant world.
