Photo gallery: Celebrities model new EJF designer Tees

Models and celebrities have been papped by the world’s most talented photographers in T-shirts by some of the world’s most eminent designers, to celebrate the work of the Environmental Justice Foundation. See our photo gallery here.

As part of the Environmental Justice Foundation’s (EJF) initiative to raise awareness of the continued use of forced child labour and the ecological devastation associated with cotton production, stars from Brit supermodel Lily Cole to singers Joss Stone and Sophie Ellis-Bextor have been donning gorgeous and exclusively designed T-shirts created by none other than Giles Deacon, Allegra Hicks, Zhandra Rhodes and John Rocha, to show their support for the cause.

The T-shirts, as modelled by 23 models from 14 different countries for free, are produced on organic and fairly traded cotton and printed with organic certified inks.

So not only are these T-shirts fabulous to look at, they’re super ethical too, because all money raised by EJF from the sale of them will go to support the charity’s valuable work.

EJF works to achieve environmental security and resolve the profound human rights abuses associated with cotton production globally, with particular focus on the Central Asian Republic of Uzbekistan, which is the world’s third largest exporter of cotton.

Juliete Williams, the Programme Director of EJF, says “Even in tough economic times, our buying power can be a force for good. Choosing organic and fairly traded cotton actively supports communities in some of the worlds poorest nations, where fair and equitable trade to the west can literally mean the difference between life and death. With public support, companies have been inspired to look at the way the cotton they buy and sell is produced, and high street names are saying ‘no’ to cotton from Uzbekistan until child labour and environmental abuses are eradicated. Together we can change our world”.

We’re more than loving this Katharine Hamnett-esque T-shirt rebirth, and happy to say that even if the T-shirts weren’t part of the EJF initiative, we’d still be forking out to make them key staples in our wardrobes. The white based versions will look cute over a flowery summer dress or with upturned boyfriend jeans, and the black version will look killer paired with tight indigo skinnies and sky-high angle boots.
