Expert Q&A – Oliver Heath

October 13, 2008 by Sarah Woodhead

TV architect and designer Oliver Heath, founder of our favourite home style boutique EcoCentric and author of new design manual ‘Urban Eco Chic’, spared us half an hour this week to chat eco home tips, address book secrets and what he’s buying his wife for Christmas. Ladies, you’ll wish he was yours.

What eco object couldn’t you live without?
Oliver: My bicycle – it’s perfect for flying around town on and avoiding the traffic. At weekends I put my 2-year-old daughter into the backseat and we cycle off along the seafront to the swimming pool – ringing the bell all the way!

What’s your top tip for stylish urban women who want to green up their homes but aren’t sure where to start?
Oliver: Snuggle up this winter with cushions made out of old woollen jumpers. It’s an easy and satisfying home project and with the addition of a few vintage buttons, or coloured ribbon, you can make really beautiful cushions that fit your home and your taste; a truly crafty bit of recycling!
