mrs-jones-comp-winner-patricia-stepanovicFashion blogger, Patricia Stepanovic, has won Oxfam’s DIY fashion design competition with her Christian Louboutin for Rodarte inspired heels. Lucie Goulet writes.

The Oxfam competition guidelines stated that entrants had to create new garments or accessories using second-hand or recycled materials, and star stylist/designer Mrs Jones chose Patricia’s innovative creation from over 25 other entries.

Mrs Jones said, the overall standard of entries was very high and it was a very difficult decision”. However, her choice was motivated by her love for the footwear design and her sympathy “with the fact it made Stepanovic’s fingers bleed”.

Stepanovic, who’s unique and edgy spin on vintage, has earned her mentions in fashion magazines around the world, will begin studying at the London College of Fashion this September, and is due to start working with designer Bryce d’Anice Aime at the fast-approaching London Fashion Week. oxfam-diy-winning-entry

Much to the relief of the followers of Stepanovic’s blog, Fashion Mongers, the designer has been, “inspired to continue creating her own pieces”.

Mrs Jones has styled many pop stars including Kylie Minogue, Madonna and The Killers. Moreover, she was the fashion brain behind the re-invention of Oxfam’s Camden High Street shop in London. The competition prize was a garment exclusively designed by Mrs Jones.

Oxfam DIY’s initiative included stops at major music festivals such as Glastonbury and Bestival where the charity set up pop-up stalls and trendy DIY tips on the Oxfam website.
