Lianne Ludlow, founder of ultra-chic ethical fashion boutique Fashion-Conscience.com, is today’s extra special Daily eBay guest editor. Lianne’s picked such a sublime piece from eBay today that both she and I struggled to pass it on! Not really, readers. Would we do that to you?

Lianne writes:

“As loathe as I am to share this eBay pick, and I am SO sorely tempted to bid on it, I thought I just had to share.

“I have been a long time eBay vintage hound, from Liberty baby-cord fabric in paisley prints, to classic Raybans, lace dresses and even an off-season Anna Sui frock for a friend’s wedding for an amazing £40.

“I’ve always loved vintage as it allows you to be on trend but in a non-showy way – worn-in riding boots are far less ostentatious than brand new shiny ones, and of course you give an item a new home, a new lease of life – it’s eco and you own a one-of-a-kind. It’s win, win, win, win, win.

“Right now I am adoring the 80s avant garde revival – sharp shoulders, draping, black, black, black and any kind of frill or fluting detail. Waists should be waisted, and anything looks edgy with black or coloured opaques and ankle boots or platform heels.

“This is an original 80s black velvet dress and so completely my sort of outfit, although I would probably wear it with stiletto heels or ankle shoe-boots. Velvet is the Christmas party season fabric but it’s hard to cut into a chic shape. However, with its draped sleeves this dress is put together in a hip way.

“Although it’s thirty years old it’s quite timeless and I could see it on a variety of chic women from designer to editor to party girl. A great piece.”

It’s located in the US, but we’re waiving the airmiles for the 30 years service this piece has already given the world. It could do 30 more too, with the right owner. Current bid price is approx £11.20 (it’s crazy isn’t it?), and bidding ends November 28 at 3.43am.
