Marylebone wellness boutique Being Content has become a new hotspot for natural beauty addicts offering a wonderful collection of the best organic and natural beauty products in the market and unique pampering treatments. All that in a cosy shop tucked away from the craziness of the high street. Eleni Sardi was there to check out the latest additions and learn the best makeup tips for a fresh summer look. One of the summer’s hot trends, and what is going to be big news for next season as well, has been the nude makeup that emphasises on a flawless complexion that appears natural but polished at the same time. This look is perfect all year round but it looks exceptionally great with a healthy summer tan.
Imelda Burke of Being Content gave us the lowdown on how to achieve the perfect porcelain looking skin by using products that actually care for it and don’t contain any chemical nasties.
To start, use Jane Iredale’s Dream Tint as a very light translucent base with SPF 15 – ideal for city dwellers who want to protect their skin from the sun’s harmful rays. Best applied with a brush, it hydrates and creates a soft-focus effect to minimise the look of large pores and fine lines. For complete coverage, use rms ‘Un’Cover up organic concealer for a radiant look. Dab it on with your fingers under the area or to hide redness and spots.
To subtly define the eyes but keep the look understated, combine a selection of Inika’s mineral eyeshadows in Honeycomb, Coper Crush and Coco Motion. Apply the first as base colour and then use Copper Crush on the lids; for the complete effect, use a thin brush to apply Coco Motion as a liner. Finish off with Jane Iredale mascara in basic brown to define the lashes in earthy tones.
To achieve the healthy glow of the nude makeup the choice of blush is very important and a highlighter will also maximise the result. Nvey Organic Powder Blush in 956 is Imelda’s pick for this look with brow bones and cheekbones highlighted with the rms beauty Living Luminizer.
For a day look use the Jane Iredale lip liner in nude as a lip base and fill in Inika’s lipstick in Creamy Caramel. To give it more ‘oomph’ during the night, alter the look completely by picking a bold colour and draw emphasis on the lips: Nvey Organic Lipstick in Red Red Shine 369 should do the trick!
For porcelain looking skin, make sure you have also used the right products for your skin type, never forgetting the golden rule: hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
