Find your inner biker chick style

January 20, 2010 by Jen Marsden

groove_redHave you ever wanted to look like a biker chick but without the need for a motorbike? Greenmystyle.com has been looking at the hottest looks around to give you the updated biker and look and how to avoid looking like an extra from the 1969 classic film, Easyrider. We’ve sussed the alternatives to using standard leather and how to complete the look with everything from accessories down to your fingernails! Jenny Butler writes.

Beginning at the most important part of an outfit, the biker boots. Terra Plana does an eco friendly platform boot that would look perfect under a pair of tight trousers. The Dionysia is made from black vegetable tanned leather.

Now for a recap on the scientific part: Vegetable tanned leather is tanned using tannin and other ingredients found in vegetable matter, tree bark and other such sources. The process does not rely on using synthetic chemicals so it is friendlier for the environment.

For the more daring, and the vegans among you, go for these gorgeous ‘Groove’ red boots by Elizabeth Olsen (above). These can be found online at Neon Collective  and have been splattered with paint by hand so each one is unique. These striking and ethical boots have flown off the shelves in New York with boutiques actually fighting over remaining stock. Even fashion icon Debbie Harry was keen to snap up a pair!

You will stand out at any party in these strawberry red booties. With a list of celebrity clients including Cheryl Cole, Fearne Cotton, Kevin Spacey and Natalie Portman, Neon Collective products are extensively researched to meet the highest possible eco-credentials.
