MAfashion1A thoroughly practical and innovative design, Michaela Pontiki’s work captures an architectural point of view by introducing air thermal circulation in outdoor clothing. The concept is that insulation in the form of trapped air can provide warmth giving properties to garments in the same way double-glazed walls and windows regulate the temperature in buildings. Ines Vicente’s interactive project ‘clothOpia’ included a canvas t-shirt where everyone could contribute their own design, promoting a concept of clothes that exists beyond the fashion trend dictatorship.

Dimitra Giannopoulou worked on the gap between sustainable fashion and emotional marketing. Her idea is that young women in their teens can be motivated to change their habits to sustainable fashion by employing emotional marketing strategies through simple stories similar to the fable of the Emperor’s clothes.

Alina Moat’s work urges us to reconnect with ourselves through a process of gifting by a project that leaves simple clothes in public spaces to be appropriated by the people who found them.

Further sustainable designer’s to watch from this year’s inaugural showcase include Lizzie Harrison and Jemima Penny.
