Hit the green slopes: Ski season style
January 12, 2010 by Clare Saxon
Bulky Eighties shell suit lookalike or smart, bum flattering Stella McCartney ski-wear? It’s a no-brainer here at Greenmystyle.com. Take a look at our pick of the best ski season fashion to pull off with panache. Quick, before the snow melts! Clare Saxon writes.
It’s a strange sight to see commuting to the city at the moment. Instead of the usual overly polished brogues and heels there is a whole array of new fancy footwork on show. From sugary coloured Hunters to chunky biker boots, it seems as well as business, Londoners do snow with style too.
If you’re lucky enough to be taking full advantage of the pesky snow blizzards we’ve been graced with and are indulging in a ski holiday this year, you’ll need to have your winter wardrobe in top condition to make an impression in more than just the snow. Get your snow style right and the skiing will follow naturally. (If you’re counting the plough).
Woolly dresses and cosy accessories are vital to a feminine and chic snow style that will keep the bitter breeze out too. Keep colours dark if you’re layering so you don’t end up clashing with your mittens too much. Camilla Norrback’s A/W collection is still selling like hot cakes and we’re particularly thrown by this stripy dress which was apparently curiously inspired by our favourite Nineties TV show, Twin Peaks. It would suit being worn over thick woollen tights as much as it would jeans, and adds a touch of welcome soft curves to the rest of your inevitably bulky snow ready wardrobe.
