It’s London Fashion Week, dahling!

London Fashion Week officially opened today, and guess who was there. Yep, little old us, of course! It’s 9pm as we write this, we’re two shows down, plus the press preview of Estethica, the ethical fashion zone, and we’re off to the Prophetik show at Notting Hill’s Beach Blanket Babylon. The day kicked off with a riot of an arrival at the British Fashion Council tents at the Natural History Museum. It’s half term, and Exhibition Road was a scrum of mums, dads and kids trying to get to the dinosaurs (it’s half-term) and fashion folk racing to get to the opening catwalks on time. It was one big explosion of tantrums and pushing and shoving, and it wasn’t the kids.

Undeterred, we got to the event, whizzed through security – yay for press fast-tracking – and…oops…met three squillion people in the queue for the opening show, the launch of Estethica and the Noir / Bllack Noir catwalk show. We’ll be filing a separate report on that, but here’s a one word preview; Rock!.

From one catwalk straight to another; Julia Smith’s show as part of Vauxhall Fashion Scout, five minutes down the road. And believe us, five minutes in killer heels is like five hours in flatties, no? There was a bit of a fashiony wait for Julia’s show, which kind of felt right, it being London Fashion Week. What’s a girl to do but head to the free drinks stand for a lovely cognac-laced pink thingie.

From Julia Smith (see our separate report), we mooched and mingled our way to the Estethica press preview, with a mission to hunt for the most beautiful eco fashion pieces on show. These are Autumn Winter 09 pieces, so yes we’ve seen the future, and it looks powerful.

Of course, we had to stop for a little chat along the way, with curator Orsola de Castro, Mark Liu, Goodone, Nina Dolcetti, Fifi Bijoux, Sonya Kashmiri, Butcher Couture, Veja, Beyond Skin, Enamore, Makepiece, Elena Garcia, Lucy Tammam…ah, now we see where the time went!
