London Fashion Week hottie – Fifi Bijoux

Fifi Bijoux is a label after our own hearts, believing that just because you have a conscience there is no need to compromise on uber chic design and luxury. Charlotte Freestone writes: This exquisite jewellery company was founded by Vivien Johnston. Vivien previously worked as Head of Design for a commercial jewellery company, and it was here she discovered the complexities of the jewellery supply chain and how difficult it was to access information on the ethical standards at each stage.

Vivien says: “I felt many of the conditions in the mining of precious minerals, through to jewellery manufacture, were significantly impacting human rights and having severe implications on the environment and the sustainability of the communities in some areas.

“I didn’t feel this was acceptable for a luxury industry, so I set up Fifi Bijoux to see if there was another way to do things, and there was.”

As a label which believes in promoting positive ethics and offering an alternative to exploitation or irresponsible damage to the environment, Fifi Bijoux sources the gold for its jewellery exclusively from fair trading, co-operative mines with eco-sustainability and environmental stewardship. The gemstones and diamonds for their divine jewellery come only from socially & environmentally responsible mines.

So, what does Vivien and her team have in store for us at this year’s London Fashion Week? “The much-awaited starfish studs to match the pendants,” she reveals. “Also, look out for our ‘Caravan’ patterned hoop earrings.” Ok!
