Sexy stars want your clothes: Oxfam’s glam campaign pics
February 25, 2009 by Clare Saxon
Dazed and Confused’s Katie Shillingford styles a handful of brilliant and beautiful women, including Cat Deeley, Heidi Klum and Sophie Ellis-Bextor with secondhand clothes from Oxfam to show how buying from charity shops is hot. And it’s all been gloriously photographed by Rankin.
Sophie Ellis-Bextor looks insanely perfect in this snap which was taken by world famous photographer Rankin for the Sustain Me campaign that Oxfam is running this month. Sophie’s polished ’60s look is red-hot and irresistible.
Sophie says of secondhand shopping: “Vintage clothing is something I’m always drawn to as I find it addictive… Of course with Oxfam clothes you also feel that by buying those one-off bits and pieces your money is doing good too.” Her local shop is in Westbourne Grove, so if you want to get some of Sophie’s eclectic style you know where to go.
Donations to charity shops are down, and Oxfam needs your clothes more than ever, so much so that it has a special offer to entice you through their welcoming doors. If you bring in donations that include a Marks & Spencer item, you will receive a £5 M&S voucher to use if you spend £35 in an M&S store. Not bad for a few bags of old clothes you’ll never wear anyway.
Here at Greenmystyle.com, we adore the way that Oxfam is smashing the boundaries of sustainable fashion and proving how stylish secondhand clothes can be.
Heidi Klum, Jamie Winstone, Natalie Imbruglia, Jourdan Dunn, Honor Blackman and Cat Deeley have also had their pictures taken to raise the profile of the charity’s big campaign. What the women all have in common is an awe-inspiring passion to make a difference to the environment through the avenue they know best, fashion.
Super-stylist Katie Shillingford from Dazed & Confused gave the stars their showstopping looks and if you click through to see more celeb sustainable makeovers you can see what she has to say about some of the outfits.
Reinventing both our wardrobes and the way we think about fashion should now be our priority, as these remarkable pictures show.
