Daily eBay special – rani jones pick on-trend Yves Saint Laurent

Greenmystyle.com’s hot favourite design duo rani jones have picked today’s Daily eBay. It’s such a fantastic find – vintage Yves Saint Laurent no less – that you might soon see a certain green glossy mag editor sporting these around town!

We interviewed the design duo behind the label recently, Rani Patel and Lucy Jones, and in our humble opinion these two are doing some of the best and most exciting work in ethical fashion. With their truly modern, urban and sharp, almost architectural, silhouettes, reminscent of early Rei Kawakubo at Comme des Garcons, rani jones is definitely a name to watch.

How cool then to own an item of vintage clothing discovered by rani jones.

Rani and Lucy write: “We think these vintage YSL trousers are an incredible find!  The sunray pleat detail drew us to them as it gives them a geometric look.

“These interesting pleats are a wonderful addition to these quirky cropped trousers.  They look like a great fit and the cropped trouser is very on trend for Spring / Summer 2009.  The bright mustard colour is fab too.”

A word from the seller: “These trousers feel amazing on, they are wonderfully tailored creating a really flattering silhouette. The pleated inserts add lots of weight and movement when you walk making them almost look like a skirt. I’m uncertain of the exact age I would guess 70s or 80s but I ve never seen another pair like these.

“The original label is intact but has been snipped maybe removing the washing instructions/fabric content so i’m unsure about the size and type of fabric. The fabric is satin looking on the inside and a kind of matt crepe on the outside.”

They’re a rough size 10/12 (exact measurements on eBay), and starting bid price is £60. That’s less than you’d pay for a high street version in French Connection and, well, we know you’ll understand.
