Shoe designer Rae Jones picks heart-melting vintage shoes
November 20, 2008 by greenmystyle
One way ticket to Quirkville today folks, but it’s so worth the ride. Shoe designer Rae Jones picks quite the most extraordinary and yet utterly cool vintage shoes.
Hailing from a time when ladies were ladies, shoes were gloriously feminine and turning up at a tea party with sodden tootsies just wouldn’t do are these waterproof overshoes. I’d buy them to make a feature of – think of hanging them from ribbons from a bare hook on your bedroom wall.
Rae Jones knows a thing or two about shoes too. She graduated from Glasgow School of art in 2000 and went on to complete a postgraduate degree in Footwear Design at the prestigious Cordwainers College, London. Following training in bespoke shoe-making, in 2001 she was appointed footwear and accessories editor to leading fashion forecasters WGSN, providing style predictions, trend research and analysis to global names in fashion footwear including our ethical footwear favourites. Rae’s eponymous footwear collection is stocked in Poste Mistress, Mimi, Labour of Love and No-One Boutique. See it here.
Rae writes: “These fabulous ‘Rain Dears’ over shoe boots hail from the 1950s and come complete with original box!
“Fitting snugly over your stilettos they allow you to looking dashing in the rain, without having to ruin your favourite shoes, making them last longer. Perfect!
“They’re witty, glamorous, ideal vintage winterwear and somebody must have them!”
We have to mention the Christmassy theme too; Rain Dears. See what we did there?
They’re a Buy It Now, at £26, and a size 5.5 to 6. Fastest finger first folks.
