Daily eBay – Vintage leather ankle boots

November 18, 2009 by Maria Kaski · Leave a Comment

Vintage Leather Lace Up Ankle Boots in brown
Alexa Chung was recently snapped in New York looking the ever fresh, rosy cheeked babe she always is and remaining faithful to our British street style; loose fitted floral mini dress, gathered gold pendants and studded gladiator sandals. There wasn’t a hint of orange on her face or a bleached blonde tress in sight. And it is this young stunner, dripping with extraordinary style, that was one of the first on the fashion circuit to sport the low, sharp heeled Victoriana boots. Since first appearing on London’s ‘it’ crowd, including Jaime Winstone, Pixie Geldof and Daisy Lowe, they have changed in shape and heel design. These vintage chimney-sweeper flat versions are comfortable and edgy and would look great with leggings or a short floral dress, blending sweet with boyish charm. High street chains have copied the style, favourites including All Saints and Carvela.  On the catwalks, Bottega Veneta has emulated the Victoriana boot by adding a high heel for a more seductive look. They also compliment this season’s androgynously gothic look.
For £45 you can be sure you’ll have a well made, trusty pair of comfy boots. They are a UK size 6 and auction ends 05/12/09

Daily eBay – Vintage leather military jacket

November 17, 2009 by Maria Kaski · Leave a Comment

Black Vintage Leather 80s Crop Military Tuxedo Jacket
Leather jackets are experiencing a massive revival. It’s appeal is in the elegance that makes it perfect as an everyday work wear look and a smart, sexed-up evening guise. With the same smooth cuts and provocative attitude as Alaia’s leather bolero jackets seen this season, a fitted cropped military tuxedo says pure midnight allure. Mandy Barder picks today’s Daily eBay.
The lapels are made from original origami detail which accentuates the front of the jacket giving it a powered-up Dallas sophistication. It’s the sort of outerwear tame enough for a casual jeans and ankle boots look and brutal enough for a teasing mini dress or super tight pencil skirt with killer heels. For accessories, go with a bright, burning clutch and one of the mega detailed statement necklaces of the moment, as perfected by the likes of Lanvin and Vera Wang.
Approx £9.59 and the auction ends 19/11/09. It’s currently at 0 bids so snap this leather gem up fast.

Daily eBay – Miss Selfridge velvet coat

November 16, 2009 by Maria Kaski · 1 Comment

Miss Selfridge Velvet Coat
A rich, dark blanket of Gothicism is settling over the catwalks this season and the more spidery, opaque and mysterious the better. Lacy web-like underwear worn as outerwear featured in Dolce & Gabbana’s lace petticoats to John Galliano’s chiffon lace jackets. Mandy Barder picks today’s Daily eBay.
For AW09, lace has been paired with velvet. Military jackets, waistcoats and long coats are cropping up amidst a parade of floaty chiffons, sequins and midnight blues. Burberry Prorsum’s A/W 09/10 collection includes a beautiful inky crushed velvet ankle length coat. This Miss Selfridge velvet coat is a little shorter but looks just as sumptuous and even has shoulder pads, giving it an extra bit of savvy noughties chic. What really nails this coat to trends at the moment is that it’s actually a blend of black and deep purple and because of the crushed texture it gives it a bit of a glossy quality. Perfect for glamorous nights out and worn with clumpy black wedges, as seen on the models at Burberry Prorsum.
This fab velvet number is a size 12 and is going for an amazing £4.99. Auction ends 18/11/09

Daily eBay – Floral dress

November 13, 2009 by Maria Kaski · Leave a Comment

The SS10 catwalks proved that florals will be fluttering their way into our wardrobes next season. Mandy Barder picks today’s Daily eBay.
Erdem’s new collection of neat little floral designs, with cinched in waists and short, slightly rounded sleeves has been received extremely well and is a lovely early spring contender. Flowing chiffon floral examples are also making themselves known, in the form of 3.1 Phillip Lim’s gorgeous Grecian style dresses. But that doesn’t mean we have to wait until next March to flaunt our floral groove. This beautiful fuchsia pink and black dress from the early 1990s has an all-year round quality; a sexy, head turning summer choice with tanned legs and simple accessories or a striking evening look with thick black tights and even thicker black shoe boots or wedges. During winter you can get away with over accessorising, so include a skinny black or pink patent leather belt and an eye catching clutch to complete your blooming goddess look.
Bidding for this pretty and elegant frock starts at £50 and the auction ends 21/11/09.

Daily eBay – Vintage 1960s Camel Coat

October 29, 2009 by Maria Kaski · Leave a Comment

There are few pieces that can carry themselves from season to season, year to year and from catwalk to high street. Some of the top contenders include the LBD, the white shirt and the trench coat. An equally established piece is the camel coat. It may be less talked about but has always maintained a solid presence on catwalks. MaxMara is still reinventing the classic style, from slouchy, broad shoulders in the 1980s to the silky soft trench dressing gown styles seen at LFW this year. Mandy Barder picks today’s Daily eBay.
This vintage take on the coat strays somewhat away from the original simplicity favoured by MaxMara and Jill Sander. A slice of the 1960s Mod culture, with a faux fur trim at the hem, cuffs and collar, this vamped up alternative makes for a classy evening coat and because of the chocolate and honey camel blend it will go with a good choice of colours and styles. The dark panel down the front echoes the shorter panelled camel coats seen at Proenza Schouler this year, worn with charcoal grey roll necks and black leather gloves.

Daily eBay – Vintage white lace gloves

October 28, 2009 by Maria Kaski · Leave a Comment

If you’re keeping up with the AW trend of thick knotted knits wrapped, bunched and swaddled around you, a touch of seductive delicacy is needed to break up those heavy swathes of wool. Chanel’s fingerless lace gloves provide just this. They are a complete style contradiction, which makes them all the more beguiling; totally sexy but also unmistakably pure. Mandy Barder picks today’s Daily eBay.
Lace has had a dappling effect across the catwalks this season, from black lacy underwear worn as outerwear at Dolce & Gabbana to John Galliano’s mad mix of gothic lace-girlie burlesque designs. But all over lace can be too much and needs something softer or plainer to really make it shine. One of the key pieces of the season, the boyfriend blazer, with OTK knee boots or skinny jeans would work best with the sleeves rolled up to reveal an enticing laced-up wrist. These vintage gloves have the fingers intact, so if you want to rock the Chanel look, get the tips chopped off.

The bidding starts at a fantastic £1.99. Auction ends 28/10/09 so there’s still time to decide on that provocative accessory for your winter blazer.

Daily eBay – Vintage 1980s Yellow Wool Boyfriend Blazer

Vintage 1980s Yellow Wool Coat/Boyfriend Blazer

Any bold and alluring colour thrown into a neutral look is sure to be a head turner, and a good pick of this season’s vivacious colours can work the look just like any Eddie Sedgwick ensemble does. This vintage 1980s original yellow boyfriend blazer has a similar cut to that of Christian Lacroix’s tweed oversized blazers and uses the kind of wool seen on the camel coats and trenches at recent fashion shows. Mandy Barder picks today’s Daily eBay.
Such a blinding colour as yellow might seem too ambitious to pair with a lot of colours. But it blends perfectly with a daytime jeans and tweed look and into the evening with black or brown tights and chunky platforms. Some designers, in particular, Luella, have teamed monochrome sandals with canary and mustard yellow shifts and coats for a sweeter spring look. One of this coat’s top features is the velvety wool and the fantastic thickness of it; being just as toasty warm as your old school duffle coat but a hundred times more stylish and so easy to throw on over the top of casual and smart looks.
Bidding starts at £85 and is sure to get interest from plenty of bright colour enthusiasts. Auction ends 05/11/09.

Daily eBay – Vintage 1980s suede over the knee boots

3.) Vintage 1980s suede over the knee boots
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-original-1980s-soft-suede-over-knee-boots-39_W0QQitemZ320436646657QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Women_s_Vintage_Clothing?hash=item4a9b833301
Over-the-knee boots have certainly had a sexed-up revival, with today’s designers taking them higher up the thigh than ever before. Whether yours is a leather, patent, suede or rubber boot fetish, this season there is something out there to cater for all tastes. This pair of maroon suede OTK’s not only tick the boot box but are fully on-trend with the autumnal hues. Mandy Barder picks today’s Daily eBay.
The suede look has been popular at Emilo Puccio and Antonio Berardi with forest and earthy tones taking centre stage. Mostly worn with this season’s super short mini-dresses and skirts, the OTK’s must have a low heel to avoid cheapening the look. Sheer or low denier tights work best, allowing the skirt or dress to stand out against the boots. The spray-on OTK’s, as fashioned by Roberto Cavalli, should just hide underneath the hem of a skirt or dress to keep the look subtle and chic. And the best clothing accompaniment, which has flooded the catwalks, is the boyfriend blazer with tuxedo-style lapels, as seen at Stella McCartney.
Bidding starts at 99p with no current bids, so they could be the easiest and cheapest style steal you make this season. Auction ends 26/10/09.

Daily eBay – Black leather batwing dress

Now that winter has firmly made its crisp introduction, wearing the deepest of blacks and greys shouldn’t be a style to shy away from. Chunky, thick, baggy and strong pieces are eclipsing the catwalks, and just as ebony blacks carry that boundless sense of dominance, leather is finding its way into different pieces and not just limiting itself to the jacket. Mandy Barder picks today’s Daily eBay.
The high neckline keeps the style of this dress chic with a matching high waist skirt attached to the batwing top. We’ve seen Karen Millen take the leather dress to its entirety, in both a bandeau form and with short puff-ball sleeves. But this leather-cotton mix is a fresh and softer take on a harder look. The leather cuffs and loose neckline add to its futuristic Matrix-style appeal and the slash at the back is a cheeky feature to glam up the look. The hem line isn’t too short, so it gets away with high black or red stilettos.
The bidding starts at £9.11 approx and is from the US. Auction ends 23rd October so get in there in time for an uber stylish Morticia Addams look this Halloween.

Daily eBay – Vintage cream trench

October 9, 2009 by Maria Kaski · Leave a Comment

Vintage Macintosh cream coat
As the autumnal weather creeps in, it’s time to update our wardrobes for the chilly seasons to come. First on the list: a lightweight vintage trench coat to ease into autumn/winter, stay ahead of the masculine tailoring trend and stay dry in the wet weather to come. Amiee Jones picks today’s Daily eBay.
The single breast closure on this coat is a simpler, less fussy alternative to the classic double breasted trench. It’s reminiscent of 1940′s  starlets, Marlene Dietrich and Katherine Hepburn, who used androgynous dressing to stand out amongst the more traditionally feminine garments of the time.  It also wouldn’t look out of place on one of Alfred Hitchcock’s screen heroines.
Wear open and layer different lengths underneath to build depth into an outfit. If you are set on an hourglass silhouette, button it up and belt it in to give it more shape. If you want to add some more interest to the coat, you can always simply change the buttons yourself for something in a bright colour for contrast, or swap its gold ones for silver.
A classic coat that will look just as appropriate over jeans as it will a cocktail dress. You’d be hard pushed to find a more versatile piece of outerwear.
A size 14, you can ‘buy it now’ for £37.95 or submit an offer for the sellers consideration.
