Daily eBay – Ikea wool rug
September 16, 2008 by greenmystyle · Leave a Comment
Today’s discovery is this 100% wool rug from Ikea. There’s definitely an Autumnal nip in the air, which will explain why we’re turning to cosy homewares today. Rugs, blankets, velvet curtains..oo, we’re warming up just thinking about them.
This rug is 137cmx202cm, and cost approx £150 new a few years ago, says the owner. It’s an off white cream colour and has no stains on the top surface. It’s showing some water stains on the underside, from handwashing, but these aren’t on view. Check the photos on eBay.
If you’re in the Nottingham area (NG17 or NG4), a pick-up would be best, though the seller is prepared to package it for a courier collection.
Current bid price is £17.05, and the auction ends September 17 at 10.26am.

Daily eBay – 1960s coffee table
September 13, 2008 by greenmystyle · Leave a Comment
Today’s discovery is this 1960s teak and glass coffee table. It’s elegant, simple, modernist in feel, and hey, will hold books, mugs, nibbles and the cat really well!
It’s in virtually perfect condition with just a few marks on the glass commensurate with its age. Manufactured in England too. it measures 84cm in diameter and is 46cm high.
Now, strictly speaking, teak isn’t ideal in the green home, it being subject to over-forestation. So if you love the look and durability of teak but want to make absolutely sure you’re not contributing to the problem it’s better to buy secondhand versions than new.
The starting bid for this table is £45, and bidding ends September 14 at 20.04pm. It’s a pick-up only by the way, from Enfield, North London.

Verner Panton chairs

Want to buy more vintage and secondhand clothing and homewares from eBay, but don’t have the time to find the best pieces amidst the…ahem…drossy stuff? Don’t fear! Help is at hand. Every day, in the spirit of re-using and recycling, I’ll bring you one gorgeous item.
Today’s discovery is this pair of Verner Panton chairs. I have two of these already and they look fantastic with my Eero Saarinen table.
These two aren’t in best shape, but the current bid price is only 99 pence, and at anything less than £50 for the pair it would be worth finding out if they can be reconditioned. They’re a sleek shape, and such a classic piece of Twentieth Century design.
Bidding ends September 4 at 10.45am.

It’s back to homewares for today’s Daily eBay. If I had room in my house I’d be snapping this one up myself. It’s the Robin Day for Habitat sofa bed.
It’s a modern authentic reproduction of a classic Robin Day design, produced by Habitat and now out of production.
The back rest drops down to reveal a larger seating area or to make room for use as a bed. It’s a lovely modernist, clean style you’ll feel proud to have.
The seller says it is in great condition, just cleaned, with a few minor marks commensurate with age. Check the pictures on eBay, plus the dimensions.
The current bid is £112 (I know, it’s still a bargain), and bidding ends on August 17, 16.06pm

Today’s Daily eBay is this elegant pair of Old Hall stainless steel tealight holders with blood orange Whitefriars glass shades. They stand 29cms tall, have round bases (see the other pics on eBay), and are in great condition.
Apart from being beautiful, Old Hall, the original stainless steel tablewear brand from the ’30s through to the ’80s, is hot for collecting. Manufactured in the Black Country, Robert Welch was a consultant designer in the ’50s. Welch won three design awards for an Old Hall toast rack, a collection of dishes and a range of cutlery.
Act fast as there’s only 8 hours to go. Current bid is £26 for the pair.
Daily eBay – 1970s mushroom lamp

Want to buy more vintage and secondhand clothing and homewares from eBay, but don’t have the time to find the best pieces amidst the…ahem…drossy stuff? Don’t fear! Help is at hand. Every day, in the spirit of re-using and recycling, I’ll bring you one gorgeous item.
Today’s Daily eBay is this fab 1970s mushroom lamp, apparently from the ‘Eames Space Age Era’, though this might be a bit of hype to get a better search listing. Whatever, I think it’s gorgeous and if it glows as well as the seller claims, it would look striking as a bedside lamp maybe?
It stands 25 inches high and the shade is 18 inches in diameter. The shade and neck are made of plastic while the base is chrome. It has a couple of very minor scuff marks which you can see on the other photos.
As I say, I love it, and as it has a standard bayonet bulb fitting, it will take energy efficient lightbulbs. Bidding ends at 9pm tonight, and the current bid price is £4.19.
