Paint and wallpaper producer, Farrow & Ball has taken far-reaching steps to make your walls a little greener, whatever colour you decide to paint them. Amiee Jones writes.
With 90% of their paints stamped with an ‘e’ mark on the tin, Farrow & Ball has announced that its products now contain a low to zero amount of volatile organic compounds (VOC’s). In paint, the VOC present is the solvent, which is released into the air as the paint dries, harming both you and the environment.
The absence of these solvents not only results in healthier, but also fresher smelling air.
These new finishes cleverly combine the environmentally friendly benefits of water based paints, yet rival traditional oil-based ones performance-wise, with the added bonuses of shorter drying times, plus an odour-free home.
Farrow & Ball also block-prints its wallpapers with its own paint, further reducing the amount of VOC’s released into the atmosphere.
As well as improving the ethics of what goes into their tins, the brand also continue to use recyclable tin packaging as opposed to following other producers in swapping for plastic. So, both inside and out, this is paint with a purpose.
