Tried & tested: Essential Care’s Organic Coconut Candy Scrub!
February 7, 2010 by Jen Marsden
We love trying organic beauty products, and we’ve found an absolutely sweet treasure with Essential Care’s Organic Coconut Candy Scrub! Jen Marsden writes.
One of the more resolutely pure approaches to beauty, here at Greenmystyle.com we’ve always loved organic beauty pioneers Essential Care. Not only does the company wholeheartedly strive to go beyond the Soil Association stringent organic standards, last year it also certified some of its products with the FAIRTRADE Mark.
The Organic Coconut Candy Scrub is one I’ve been excited about for some time, not least due to its award winning prowess. It won Soil Association Best Organic Bodycare Product Award 2009 at the Natural and Organic Awards, is a Green Beauty Bible Award Winner and came Highly Commended in the Pure Beauty Awards 2009.
So what makes it so great? Well stubbornly 100% organic and having been hand-blended in Suffolk, the scrub uses gorgeous fragrant virgin coconut oil and coconut butter to leave your skin feeling deeply moisturised. Using fair trade sugar cane crystals that are rich in glycolic acid, they work with poppy seeds to gently exfoliate the skin. On the tropical scent, unlike most fake, synthetic horrible coconut beauty products, this totally natural one smells truly divine and if you close your eyes (which I did) you could easily imagine yourself by some palm trees…
“Probably the tastiest product we’ve ever made!” say Essential Care founders, mother and daughter team Margaret & Abi Weeds.
Challenged by Debbie, Essential Care’s lovely PR that this product was actually pure enough to eat, I found myself digging a clean finger into the scrub and gave it a little lick. It was delicious, and I imagine would go rather go well with some organic vanilla ice-cream.
Instead, I scrubbed up with it in the bathtub and found it very easy to use indeed. What’s more, a little bit went a long way.
I found my skin still beautifully smooth and soft and wonderfully fragranced the next morning. I’ll certainly aim to always have it in my prized beauty pampering collection.
Available at Essential Care, £28 for 200g.
