askinosieWith Chocolate Week 2009 in full swing, we undertook the selfless task of tasting the best organic chocolates. Maria Kaski and her tasting team sample ethical chocolate delights.

1. Askinosie: San Jose del Tambo, Ecuador 70%

It is a rare pleasure to find a chocolate bar with just three ingredients: Cocoa beans, cocoa butter and pure cane sugar. This award winning bar by Askinosie boasts a raw and unadulterated flavour. The soft aromas contrast with the dry chalkiness inevitably accompanying a low cocoa butter and high cocoa bean content. The rustic packaging adds to the delight of this chocolate.
