February 5, 2009 by greenmystyle

Love Topshop? Hooked on Hennes? Partial to Primark? You’re not the only one. The good news is your favourite high street fashion, beauty and homeware shops are pulling their finger out to be more ethical. Nathalie Gottschalk has created this exclusive greenmystyle.com guide to exactly which store offers what. Today’s featured store: Warehouse.

Warehouse

Ethical items available:
Warehouse launched its first ethical range, Warehouse Cares, last year, bringing to the high street a range of infinitely wearable organic jersey pieces, followed up with impossibly gorgeous recycled silk items.

As well as recycled silk, Warehouse uses organic cotton and linen, grown naturally without the use of any chemicals or pesticides and approved by The Organic Crop Improvement Association.

The great news is that Warehouse Cares – an umbrella name for the store chain’s ethical fashion initiative – is set to expand for Spring Summer 09, to include more styles plus recycled denim pieces.

Not only is the range organically sound, but the in-house design team has created a collection that exudes an effortlessly fresh look for Spring in a collection of unique shapes and styles.

The pegged cropped trouser and oversized vest epitomise the season’s must-have look, while the wrap dress and military jacket are given a contemporary twist with origami pleat and fold details.

Price range:
Very affordable. The Organics collection ranges from £28 for a vest, £40 for a skirt through to £60 for a dress. The recycled silk pieces range from £45 for a camisole to £85 for a jumpsuit. See this range here.

Availability:
The complete organic collection will be available in select stores and online at warehouse.co.uk from early February 2009. The recycled silk collection went into stores in December 2008. The recycled denim will be in stores later this Spring.
