This competition  has now closed.

How do you fancy a night of wall-to-wall glamour and celeb-spotting in a hot London location? The lovely folk at RE:Fashion are offering one greenmystyle.com subscriber a pair of tickets to the most excellent RE:Fashion Awards on November 13. Too busy washing your hair that night? Didn’t think so.

RE:Fashion is a brand new fashion phenomenon, aiming to transform the fashion industry into more ethical shape within a decade. The RE:Fashion Awards, hosted by Louise Roe and taking place at Shoreditch Town Hall, East London, are the world’s first awards to celebrate improved social and environmental standards in the fashion industry. Kinda like the Oscars for Eco Style, there are 14 awards up for grabs, including the coveted Fashion Designer of the Year and RE:Fashion Model, celebrating real beauty.

Win the tickets and you’ll get to see the awards, plus the celebrity catwalk finale where a selection of the world’s most innovative and highly respected designers will showcase one-off pieces made from sustainable materials. They include; Vivienne Westwood, Allegra Hicks, Zandra Rhodes, Preen, Todd Lynn, Jonathan Saunders, Aimee McWilliams and others. Daisy Lowe will be modelling an iconic Vivienne Westwood dress, which will be up for grabs in a VIP auction. Read enough to get you planning your outfit already? Then…

Need to know more? The Awards already have the support of the fashion world’s exclusive players, such as Ozwald Boateng, Hilary Alexander, Fashion Director of the Daily Telegraph, Melanie Rickey, Fashion editor of Grazia, Jane Sheperdson, Anna Orsini of the British Fashion Council, model Erin O Connor and a panel of leading judges, supporters and high profile designers, such as Zandra Rhodes, Vivienne Westwood, Jo Wood, Pearl Lowe, Marissa Montgomery and Katharine Hamnett. So, make sure you’re wearing your best frock!

Why RE:Fashion? Well, sadly for style lovers, the fashion industry is one of the most polluting and exploitative industries in the world. Fashion continues to cause unimaginable hardship for millions of people through poverty wages and desperate working conditions, and is helping to destroy the planet. One example is the Aral Sea – almost completely dried up through intensive cotton farming, killing all its wildlife and the livelihoods of all around.

100% of profits made through RE:Fashion are donated to the Ethical Fashion Forum, an organization focused upon transforming lives for the people behind fashion, and reducing the environmental impacts of the fashion industry. Plus, many of the materials for the iconic catwalk designs will be sourced through Africa Inspires, a United Nations (ITC) project which links African producers and designers with Western markets in order to create sustainable livelihoods and reduce poverty.

Sounds superb, doesn’t it? Not only glamorous and fun, but important too. greenmystyle.com has bagsied its place, and watch out for our upcoming preview of the nominees.
